This regimental memory comes from Major Peter Williamson about Londonderry. This photo was taken in the Autumn of 1971, on (as Peter recalls) a Saturday afternoon. Pictured is Peter as an OC of A Company of the Vikings, in Waterloo Place, awaiting the usual arrival of rioters.
As the Covid-19 virus has taken most of us into our homes for isolation or social distancing, the Curator is getting jobs done from home. We are trying to do some cleaning up of folders, the online database, as well as some spring cleaning of files. I’m sure as this goes on, we will endeavour to find new and interesting ways to be as productive as possible while listening to the government guidelines at this time. So enclosed as a hopeful morale boost, please find a little extract from a book of cartoons called ‘The Changing Face of Britain’ by Fougasse, published in October 1940.
